Meet Amy Cubbon, the first female fleet supervisor to join Enterprise Car Club
I went to university in the US and first heard of Enterprise through a friend who applied for the graduate programme over there. He spoke so highly of the company that I decided to have a look when I returned to the UK.
I happily made it through the recruitment process and had a particularly good ‘fun fact’ for my assessment day icebreaker: I had come straight from the labour ward where I was birthing partner to my sister who had just given birth right before I had to leave!
I started in the North-West group in Warrington in January 2016 and completed my management training programme in October that year. On my first anniversary I was promoted to assistant manager in Birkenhead and later that year I transferred to a larger branch in Chester.
Sadly, I lost my mum in December 2017, which really made me take stock of things. I decided to pursue an opportunity in the corporate premium rental department. In January 2020 I had my son Lincoln and returned to the month or more team a year later as a single parent.
I was initially attracted to the role of fleet supervisor at Enterprise Car Club because I enjoy managing people, operations and logistics.
"I feel like my career has catapulted since joining Enterprise Car Club"
Enterprise Car Club is a fast-growing part of the business, which plays into my desire for progress. I also enjoy variety, so the fact I would be working for the European corporate head office in Egham while being field based in Liverpool was hugely attractive.
I feel like my career has catapulted since joining Enterprise Car Club. I’m learning so much about a different part of the business and developing new skills along the way. I love meeting people, so managing across two groups while working for corporate has given me great exposure and the opportunity to regularly visit Egham for training and meetings.
I am grateful to Enterprise for all these opportunities. I have had a lot going on in my personal life, losing my mum and becoming a single parent, but Enterprise has always been there as a constant. Things might have fallen apart at times at home, but I could always come into work, be myself and achieve in a supportive environment.
