Career Progression

Area sales manager profile: Laura Harrison

Tell us about your career at Enterprise
I joined Enterprise after finishing university in 2017. I started out in one of our home city locations based in Newcastle, and within 18 months I had been promoted to branch manager.

One of my favourite parts of being a Branch Manager was growing our corporate business, and I was lucky enough to work with my BRSE at the time who inspired me to join the business rental team. I applied as soon as a position opened, and from there my career in business rental started.

I was promoted to Senior BRSE in 2021 shortly after our Northeast business rental team won an Enterprise Achievement Award for delivering top performance in UK and Europe.

Thanks to the support from the team and my Area Sales Manager I was able to start to look at the next steps in my career and in April this year I was promoted to Area Sales Manager and relocated to the Southwest group.

"One of the benefits of working for Enterprise is the chance to relocate, meet new people and develop your skills and your network"

How did you plan your relocation?
I initially thought relocating would be quite stressful, especially within such a short time frame and because I did not know anyone in this part of the country. However, it has gone surprisingly very well.

I was able to narrow down a few locations I wanted to move to thanks to receiving a lot of recommendations from contacts in the Southwest group and then I spent a weekend searching for somewhere to rent.
Renting was the best option after I sold my house so I can scope out the Southwest – there are so many great places. I picked somewhere a little more rural as I prefer the slower pace in comparison to living in a city centre.

The relocation company we use combined with the help from the Southwest team made the move very easy. They have literally helped with everything and made many stressful things seem easy.
It has been an adventure so far, and I am really looking forward to meeting some new friends and seeing more of the area.

How did you know this was the right move for you?
Area Sales Manager roles do not come out very often and moving from a Level II to a Level III role is a big step. But it was too exciting an opportunity to not go for. One of the benefits of working for Enterprise is the chance to relocate, meet new people and develop your skills and your network.

"At Enterprise you get out what you put in"

What are your career goals?
My career path is in the business rental department. There has never been a more exciting time to be in our team, with so many new and exciting products and services being introduced along with innovative mobility solutions.

We have so many new job roles that we have never previously had. You never know what job openings will be posted, but one day it would be great to head up our sales team in the group.

It is also incredibly important that I inspire other females to join our business rental department and to step into a leadership role. We have some great female role models in the team and there can never be enough of those!

Any tips for success?
At Enterprise you get out what you put in. Always say yes to opportunities, then make sure you’re setting a high standard and behaving for the job you want to do. We have a fantastic team so don’t ever hesitate to reach out to get advice and see what opportunities there are.
