Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity needs you!

This spring 2017 edition of Drive is a special edition because it celebrates so many of our diversity achievements at Enterprise.

As many of you will know, I am a great reader of business books and magazines and I would like to urge all of you, men as well as women – and possibly men more than women – to read Drive and to take inspiration from it.

For the 12th year we have been named in the Times Top 50 Employers for Women and this year we have also won Best Diversity Strategy at the TARGETjobs awards. These are phenomenal achievements, which have been led by Leigh Lafever-Ayer and Ashley Hever and their teams, and which recognise the efforts of all of us in the business to make Enterprise more inclusive. Congratulations to everyone.

I was privileged to be involved in some of our activities for International Women’s Day. Each year, this day gives us another moment to pause and consider how we can improve our business by increasing diversity through inclusion.

This year, the theme for the day was Be Bold For Change – read the article "How bold is bold enough, and safe enough?" more information.

I also wanted to pick up on the theme here because it is so fundamental to diversity.

Businesses with a more diverse and inclusive culture are more successful and resilient.

Being diverse and inclusive is hard work and requires a lot of effort: constant vigilance, a lot of support, everyone working together towards a common goal.

So diversity needs to be a part of everyone’s daily routine: for males and females, and everyone from every background, ethnicity and walk of life.

Drive is here to help us to celebrate our achievements along the way and to provide us with fresh ideas and insights.

Read it, enjoy it – then please act on it. Enterprise diversity needs you.
