She’s got it
As only 17% of UK tech workers are women, encouraging more women in IT is a business priority for everyone – not least Enterprise. Here are six Enterprise employees who are supporting a better IT gender balance.
Priti Zavery – IT Field Support Manager
Starting as a management trainee in 2005, Priti moved into non-fault for both a group and Enterprise Business Support. When EBS relocated to Aldershot, Priti transferred into other managerial roles. She now manages first line support for applications, reports and external IT for the fleet and corporate team and for ETD, the new business booking platform. Priti says, “Success is about having great relationships. Be approachable, get to know each other and you will see amazing things happen. Being open to change leads you into new incredible directions.”
Maheswari Ramasamy (Mahes) – Solutions Delivery Manager
Mahes brought 11 years of experience from other industries and a Masters degree when she joined Enterprise four years ago. She delivers IT solutions to cater business needs. Experience taught her that working with men should always be viewed as an ‘equal playing field’. Her innovative thinking has allowed her to move swiftly between a number of highly technical specialist roles. She believes learning is a continuous process irrespective of age, and treasures and shares the knowledge she has gained.
Victoria Brignall – IT Business Management Team Manager
Victoria was interested in business and IT and took her A levels in these subjects. She took a placement with Enterprise to take advantage of the opportunities of working for a corporate. Victoria now leads the European IT Business Management team responsible for managing finance, contracts and vendors. She was nominated for the ‘Future Stars of Tech’ awards and has been asked to speak at the University of Kent. Victoria believes that success is built on how teams are developed to allow ‘ownership, empowerment, freedom and creativity’.
Tharmini Umaselvan – Information Security Analyst – Governance
With a degree in computer science, Tharmini lectured for the British Computer Society before becoming Enterprise’s first software tester in 2007. She now works globally to ensure contractual and customer requirements are meeting information security goals. Emma Roydhouse – IT Product Administrator
Emma qualified in IT before joining Enterprise 12 years ago as a billing agent and team leader. When someone suggested she try working on the IT field support helpdesk, Emma realised she had many transferable skills: good organisational, efficiency, customer focus and an eye for detail. Emma now supports the business analysts, creating process flows, designing guides and filtering requests. “I’m keen to work as a business analyst and this role will help develop the right experience. If you yearn for change, reach out to someone who can help. Don’t be shy, just do it.”
Rooby Sehmi – Lead Business Analyst
“I have been at Enterprise for 17 years and it feels like just yesterday when I joined,” Rooby said smiling. She first joined the 50 strong national billing department in Thorpe now at our EU HQ with over 700 employees. “I held analyst roles in sales and rental before moving to IT. I was destined to work in IT.” Rooby has always had an interest in technology. She now builds products that solve business problems as the business grows.
