What can you do today that you couldn’t do a year ago?

All my life I have asked myself the never-ending question “Have I done enough?” Because I constantly ponder on the “what ifs” and “what nots”, I never took a step back to see how far I had come.

Over the past 10 months as a Revenue Analyst Intern at Enterprise, I’ve come to realise that celebrating personal and professional growth is just as important as setting goals for the future.

Not only does self-reflection provide a sense of achievement, it can also help to break the cycle of self-doubt as many of us find ourselves questioning if we have done enough.

There have been times where my constant drive for results has been detrimental to my wellbeing.

At university, I focused all my time on studying and planning my future career and I left my other passions behind.

It taught me a life lesson: instead of always thinking and worrying about the future, take a moment to be present and recognise how far you’ve come.

Think: what can you do today that you couldn’t do a year ago?

“I’ve come to realise that celebrating personal and professional growth is just as important as setting goals for the future”

For me, it is communicating with confidence. When I first joined Enterprise, I rarely participated in conversations or team discussions.

I decided to join a DISC training session to learn about my communication style and it helped me to voice my ideas and become more confident.

I started attending networking events, organised lunches, and learn about different areas of the business. I embraced the extrovert in me!

With the support of my manager, Regional Revenue Manager Rebecca Dickinson, and fellow team members, I ventured outside my comfort zone. I took on new areas of responsibility, led projects and designed insights on market performance, which led to me achieving the People’s Champion vote for my department on two occasions.

“My internship has been a fantastic learning experience where I continue to thrive”

My internship has been a fantastic learning experience where I continue to thrive.

I’m so proud to have placed 2nd out of 340 interns in Enterprise’s Intern of the Year Competition – an incredible achievement!

Growing is not something that happens instantly – it takes time. Often it is so subtle that we can overlook it. That’s why it’s important to reflect on your personal growth and realise how your experiences are making you a better version of yourself.

So, as you look to the future, don’t forget to celebrate how far you’ve come. Ask yourself, what can you do today that you couldn’t do a year ago?
