Women in remarketing

There are many avenues for your career at Enterprise. Drive set out to investigate the opportunities offered by remarketing, the Enterprise department that sells vehicles when they are no longer required.

Allyson Bennie (SC) and Stephanie Osborne (U4) both chose to work in remarketing.
Stephanie is only a few months into her role whereas Ally is a senior account manager who has thrived in her role and is currently the only level 3 female remarketer in the UK.

Ally and Stephanie both have a similar background starting off on the management training programme, and being promoted to assistant manager then to branch managers before starting their roles within remarketing.

The role is sometimes perceived as a male dominated area. To make up her own mind, Ally did research in her own time, making appointments with owners and directors of her buyers to build her credibility.

Alongside fast career progression and posting strong sales numbers, they reached out to the remarketing department to make it known that they intended to work in that part of the business as the next step in their career paths. This is part of how they enhanced their personal brand within Enterprise and especially with other departmental managers.

To support their aspirations to join the new department they spent time with their local remarketing teams to understand the various dimensions of this role and to understand what was required of them.

Going from being experts as branch managers within daily rental to going into remarketing is a challenge within itself. The role is sometimes perceived as a male dominated area. To make up her own mind, Ally did research in her own time, making appointments with owners and directors of her buyers to build her credibility.

She did encounter some resistance from the marketplace, and this is something that all the remarketers said they have experienced. It is possibly one of the hardest parts of her role, however, her tenacity, determination and now sales prove that there are no barriers that can’t be eliminated in the road to success.
